My name is Anna…
I used to say that I did not miss anything in (from?) Poland, but I grew older and, hopefully, wiser and realised it is not true. I miss certain things, like proper Spring and Autumn with their overpowering smells and colours…
However, most of all I painfully miss the abundance of Fermented Foods. I miss going to a shop to buy Sauerkraut and not feeling like the village chief eccentric. It is just an essential part of the life back there. We all grew up on fermented vegetables. Seriously.
I am quite lucky to live close to Dublin, where thanks to the apocalyptic wave of immigration from Eastern Europe ten years ago, there are lots of shops selling Fermented Foods.
I am going to tell you stories about my relationship with this stuff to make you curious.
Some of the posts were kindly proofread by my friend Ann Marie. You will easily recognise which ones. For the rest, my apologies.
If you want to know more about my life and my blog listen to the podcast, where I revealed quite a lot of details (to my family’s dismay :-))
